Keep your number

Verity as overflow: keep your number, she picks up when you can't

You don't have to change your phone number or put the Verity number on your van. Divert your existing mobile or landline to Verity only when you don't answer, or only when you're on another call. Callers ring the number they've always rung; Verity answers on ring five.

1. Mobile: divert on no answer

Dial these on your phone's keypad and press call. Replace the number with your Verity number in full, no spaces.

These are the GSM standard codes and work on EE, O2, Vodafone, Three, giffgaff, Tesco Mobile, Sky Mobile, Lebara, iD, VOXI, SMARTY and Lyca. To change the no-answer delay: *61*07360266999**20# (5, 10, 15, 20, 25 or 30 seconds).

Or use the menu: iPhone → Settings → Phone → Call Forwarding (iOS only offers "forward all"; for no-answer use the code above). Android → Phone app → ⋮ → Settings → Calls → Call forwarding → "When unanswered" → enter the Verity number.

Check it worked: ring your own mobile from another phone and let it ring out. Verity should answer.

2. Landline (BT, Sky, TalkTalk, Virgin, Plusnet)

Ask your provider to add "Call Divert on No Reply" (BT calls it Call Diversion; it's usually free or about £3/month). Then from the landline: *61*07360266999# to set, #61# to cancel. Some providers use *21* for divert-all only; ring them and say "divert on no reply to a mobile number".

3. Works with your office phone system

Every cloud phone system has a "when nobody answers, send the call here" setting. Put your Verity number in it, set the ring time to about 20 seconds, and she picks up only the calls your team misses. Callers still ring your usual number; Verity answers as your business. The menu paths below are from each vendor's own help pages (checked 4 October 2026); the wording on your screen may differ slightly by version. If your dealer manages the system, send them this page.

SystemWhere the setting livesWhat to choose
RingCentralAdmin Portal → Users → select the user (or My Extension) → Call Forwarding and Voicemail → Work hours / After hours. In the app: profile picture → Phone → Call handling.Under Missed calls (app: Unanswered calls) choose Forward to external number and enter your Verity number. Ring time is under Incoming calls ("Select how long you want each device to ring").
3CXWeb client → Settings → Call Forwarding, for the Available status (repeat for Away if you want her out of hours too).Set when a call counts as unanswered (for example 20 seconds), then under the unanswered rule choose External number and enter your Verity number. Your 3CX admin may need to allow external forwarding for the extension.
Gamma HorizonHorizon portal → Users → List Users → edit the user → Call Setup tab → Incoming Calls → Call Handling.Under When I Don't Answer tick the box, enter your Verity number and set the number of rings. For a hunt group, set the same on the group's no-answer / overflow destination.
Microsoft Teams (Teams Phone)Teams → Settings → Calls → Call handling and forwarding.Under the unanswered-call option choose to forward to a new number and type your Verity number; set the ring time before it forwards. Needs a Teams Phone licence with a calling plan or operator connect; on a Teams SIP desk phone the code is *34 followed by the seconds.
BT Cloud VoiceBT Cloud Voice Business Portal → Dashboard → Users → select the user → Features → Call Forwarding No Answer.Switch it on, enter your Verity number and choose the number of rings. Virgin Media Business Cloud Voice uses the same feature under the same name.
8x8, Vonage, Zoom Phone, Webex CallingUser or call-queue settings → call handling / "no answer" rules.Same idea: the no-answer or overflow destination is an external number, set it to your Verity number with a 20-second ring. Ask us if you want the exact path for your system and we'll add it here.

Two tips. First, use the group or queue no-answer destination rather than one person's extension, so Verity catches every missed call to the main number. Second, if your system can pass the original caller's number through (most do by default), leave that on: Verity reads it, texts the confirmation to it and shows it in your alert.

For a firm with several sites or a dealer-managed system, we are adding SIP so Verity can sit as an extension inside the phone system, with calls staying inside your system and transfers back to a desk. If that is what you need, say so on the partners page or email [email protected] and you will be first on it.

4. What callers hear

Their call rings your phone as normal. If you don't pick up, there's a one-second click and Verity answers: "Hi, Northside Plumbing and Heating, Verity speaking, how can I help?" No "please hold", no menu. The caller's own number is passed through, so Verity still texts them the confirmation and you still get the caller ID in your alert.

5. Both modes at once

Most customers run overflow during the day (*61*) and switch to divert-all (*21*) at 6pm or on holiday. Two codes, two seconds. Verity's availability by text ("nothing else today") controls what she books either way.

6. Bills

Diverted minutes are charged by your mobile provider at your plan's rate for calls to UK mobiles (free on most plans). Verity's minutes are counted on your Ring Verity plan (300 included on Trades).
